Beach Rides

Murthwaite Green specialises in beach rides. They are very popular, with customers returning time after time. We cater for all abilities and ages from 4 years upwards. We are always happy for able riders to have a good gallop on the beach and we can cater for mixed ability groups by sending out additional ride escorts so less able riders can still have a good canter.

1 Hour Beach Ride:  £23

This ride is suitable for able riders who are competent at all paces. It includes plenty of trotting and cantering and a good gallop to get rid of the cobwebs! Limited availability, so please check in advance.

90 Minute Beach Ride:  £31

Relaxing ride along the shore. Suitable for all abilities. We are happy to take out mixed ability groups, and for those of you who want the opportunity to have a canter along the sands, this is the ride for you.

2 Hour Beach Ride:  £39

A relaxing ride along the shore. Suitable for all abilities. Again, we are happy to cater for mixed ability groups.

3 Hour Beach/Picnic Ride:  £55

Relaxing ride along the shore with plenty of time for a picnic stop in the sand dunes. Suitable for all abilities and for mixed ability groups.

Half Day Beach/Picnic Ride:  £71

Half day ride, approximately four hours, along the beach at a pace to suit all. Plenty of opportunities for a gallop if able, and a picnic stop along the way. Suitable for all abilities, so bring your lunch!

Full Day Hodbarrow/Beach Ride:  £103

Ride along the beach taking in the views along the way. Stop for a picnic whilst your horse takes a rest. Ride around the old harbour wall and Hodbarrow nature reserve. The return journey takes you along the grassy bankings that surround the estuary and then a climb over Po-House, enjoying the spectacular scenery as you go. This ride is suitable for experienced riders who are comfortable at all paces, and lasts approximately six and a half hours.

Places on this ride are limited to a maximum of 5 people. All rides will leave at approximately 10am and will return at around 4pm, depending on how fast you gallop on the beach!

 

Full Day Black Combe Fell/Beach Ride:  £103 Picnic/£113 Pub lunch

Set off along Silecroft beach riding 3 miles to Gutterby, where we will leave the beach to join the lanes heading towards Black Combe. We then start our climb to almost 2000 feet, stopping along the way to admire the views. At the summit, the views are breathtaking. This ride lasts approximately six hours and will leave at around 10am, returning at around 4pm. On this ride you have the option of a picnic or lunch at a local hotel.

Places on this ride are limited to a a maximum of 6 people. Riders must all be experienced at riding over a variety of terrain and for several hours.
