Trail Ride Options 2012

NEW FOR 2012 - 3 DAY ALL INCLUSIVE RAVENGLASS TRAIL RIDE

Our 3 Day Trail Ride includes:
3 full riding days with experienced guides
2 nights full board accommodation (additional nights can be arranged)
2 x pub lunches and 1 x packed lunch
All evening meals
Luggage transfer.

3 Day Trail Ride Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at the yard at around 9am ready for a 10am start.  We will ride out along the beach to Gutterby and around the base of Blackcombe.  We will be stopping for a relaxed pub lunch at The Wayside before continuing along the base of Blackcombe and soon dropping down into Bootle village. 
We will head through Bootle towards Corney and Waberthwaite using quiet country lanes and bridleways.
We are stopping at Eskmeals Country House where there is a lovely paddock for the horses and an evening meal close by at The Brown Cow in Waberthwaite.

Day 2
After breakfast we will head out over the ford into Ravenglass, taking our picnic lunch with us.  We will spend the day riding around Muncaster Estate, enjoying the fabulous views of the estuary and surrounding countryside.  Riding is mainly on bridleways and tracks.  After our days riding, we will head back over the ford into Eskmeals where we will stop for the night once again.  Evening meal will once again be at The Brown Cow

Day 3
After breakfast we will head inland towards Waberthwaite and Corney.  Riding mainly along quiet country lanes and bridleways before dropping down into Bootle for lunch at The Byre.  After lunch we will head back onto Blackcombe where we will have the choice of returning back to the stables via a fast gallop along the sands or over the summit of Blackcombe (weather permitting!).


2 Day Trail Rides 2012

Our 2 Day Trail Ride includes:
2 full riding days with an experienced guide (5-6hrs)
2 nights Bed & Breakfast accommodation
1 Packed Lunch and 1 Pub Lunch

Cost - £310 per person

2 Day Trail Ride Itinerary:

Day 1:

Ride along the beach for 3 miles to Gutterby.  From here we will head inland towards the imposing fell of Blackcombe.  We then stop for a pub lunch at a local hotel.  After lunch we will begin our climb to the summit of Blackcombe (almost 2000ft).  There are plenty of photo opportunities and on reaching the summit we will take a break to admire the fantastic views and to allow the horses to cool off in the tarn.  We will drop down into Whicham Valley crossing fields before heading back to the stables to cool off the horses. (Approx 13.5 miles)

Day 2:

Arrive at the yard in the morning ready for a 10am departure.  We will have a longer ride along the beach today in the opposite direction.  We will ride round the old Harbour wall and through Hodbarrow nature reserve before stopping for a picnic lunch whilst your horses takes a rest.  After lunch the ride continues along the salt marshes before heading inland towards Po-House hills enjoying the spectacular scenery as you go. We should arrive back at the yard by 4pm.  (Approx 14 miles)

5 Day Lakeland Trail Ride

Our 5 Day Trail Ride includes:
5 full riding days with an experienced guide (5-6hrs)
4 nights Fully board accommodation
Luggage Transfer

Cost - £890 per person

5 Day Trail Ride Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Silecroft late morning. After checking into your B&B you will be provided with a packed lunch which can be brought along to the stables to eat whilst you meet the rest of the riders. We will leave after lunch, enjoying long gallops along the beach to Gutterby. We will then leave the beach and make our way along the base of Blackcombe towards Bootle, where the horses will spend their first night. You will be collected from the field and transported back to your B&B. We will meet up later at the local inn for our evening meal to discuss the plans for the week ahead.

Day 2

You will be transported to Bootle where we will get the horses ready before heading over Bootle fell enjoying spectacular views back to the Irish Sea coast. We will stop for lunch next to the River Duddon at Ulpha - lots of time for photo opportunities. After lunch we will head further into the Duddon Valley using old packhorse routes and bridleways. We will stay the night in Seathwaite village and have a restful evening at the Newfield Inn whilst the horses graze in a nearby field.

Day 3

Leave Seathwaite by 9am we will ride over the Walna Scar Road, skirting around Coniston Old Man.  We will then drop down into Coniston village where we will stop for lunch at a local inn.  Following lunch we will pick up bridleways leaving Coniston and heading towards the Langdale Valleys.  There will be the opportunity to take a look round Cathedral Quarry (one of the filming locations for the new Snow White movie). From here we will head up towards Tilberthwaite through woodlands and along quiet and pretty bridleways. The evening will be spent at a lovely guest house directly on the Cumbrian Way. We will have our evening meal here whilst the horses graze in their fields.

Day 4

Leaving Langdale behind us, we will head over bridleways and old fell routes onto Oxen Fell enjoying fabulous views of the Langdale Pikes behind us and Tarn Hows in front. From here we will join Grizedale Forest at High Cross and enjoy a few canters along the wide tracks. After leaving the forest we drop down towards Coniston, we will have a paddle in the Lake before we stop for lunch at a local inn. Following lunch we will climb back over the Walna Scar Road heading back towards Seathwaite for the night.

Day 5

Leaving Seathwaite on our final day we will head towards Corney and Bootle Fells over Bridleways and Lanes.  After a picnic lunch stop we will head towards the coast dropping down into Bootle and making our way along the base of Blackcombe before reaching the expanse of Silecroft Beach. From here we will enjoy an exhilarating gallop home. We plan to be back in the yard for around 5pm.
