Beach Rides
Murthwaite Green specialises in beach rides. We have been operating since 2002 and have built on our experience to develop a more bespoke experience. Smaller groups of competent riders means that the experience is personalised to indidual requirements, and enables you to get the most out of your beach ride.
All rides will be escorted by either Cath or Emma Wrigley, both are fully qualified BHS Ride Leaders and hold their Riding & Road Safety and First Aid qualifications.
Our location, only 1 mile from Silecroft Beach, enables us to enjoy a short hack through the village before starting the beach ride. This gives the horses chance to warm up and also gives customers the opportunity to get the feel of the horse before hitting the beach!
Whilst we will cater mainly for competent adult riders, we are happy to take out experienced children over 11yrs and also beginner adult riders in separate groups.
2hr Beach Ride
£95
Our 2 hour beach ride offers experienced riders plenty of time on the beach for exhilarating gallops and canters. Gallop through the surf and enjoy the never-ending sands on Silecroft Beach

Full Day Beach Ride with picnic stop.
£170 - bring your own picnic
Ride along the beach to Haverigg taking in the views along the way whilst enjoying lots of gallops and paddles.. Stop for a picnic at the nature reserve, whilst your horse takes a rest. After lunch we ride around the old harbour wall and Hodbarrow nature reserve (enjoy an ice cream stop if weather allows!!) and end the day with lovely long gallops along the sands and through the surf back to Silecroft.

Full Day Beach & Fell Ride
£170 - bring your own picnic
Set off along Silecroft beach to Gutterby, where we will leave the beach to join the lanes heading towards Black Combe. We then start our climb to almost 2000 feet, stopping along the way to admire the views. At the summit, the views are breathtaking. This ride lasts approximately six hours and will leave at around 10am, returning at around 4pm. Stop for a picnic whilst your horse takes a rest and enjoy the fabulous views.
Suitable for experienced riders only.
Private Beach Rides
£150 pp - 90min
£180 pp - 2hr
One to one beach rides with either Cath or Emma are available on request. If you are a little less confident, or would just like to have the experience to yourself then this is the ride for you.
Please note that availability of private rides is limited during peak seasons and weekends.

Booking Information
During the holiday periods and at weekends our beach rides fill up very quickly. It is therefore advisable to book as early as possible, especially for beach rides, in order to avoid disappointment.
Our minimum age for riders is 11 yrs old.
Our weight limit is 14.7 stone.

Terms & Conditions
Any rider changes or cancellations need to be given 48hrs before the booked ride time or full payment will be taken on the original booking taken.
Any customer failing to show up for a booked ride will be treated as a cancellation and full payment will be taken.
We accept payments by cash, cheque and most major credit and debit cards.
Gift Vouchers:
Please note, all vouchers are non refundable. If your ride is cancelled due to weather or for any other reason, we will do our best to reschedule and extend vouchers but we cannot offer refunds.
We ask that you arrive 15 - 20 mins prior to your ride time in order to prepare you for the trek.
